Taking an aggressive stand against the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) for creating a ruckus in multiplexes,Chief Minister Ashok Chavan said the party workers and agitators will be made to pay for the damage they caused to the multiplexes.
No one would be allowed to take law into their hands. Those who have caused the damage will be made to pay for it. They will have to pay damages.
Taking up the challenge,MNS asked the chief minister if he would make multiplexes pay for the losses suffered by the Marathi directors and producers by not screening movies.
Speaking on the issue,Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal said the multiplexes were given concession after they had promised that they would promote Marathi films. The Marathi film directors and producers can approach the department concerned with their problems. But no one should take the law into their hands over the issue. There is a government policy and it should be followed, he said.
Several MNS activists were arrested on Monday for attacking multiplexes. We will continue our agitation unless and until the state government ensures that the multiplexes abide by the rules, said Ameya Khopkar, president of the cine workers association that has been leading the agitation.
