Insisting that he is innocent,Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria said he will appeal against the unfair lifetime ban slapped on him by the ECB for his role in spot-fixing. “They (ECB) don’t have any proof against me. I don’t know why they are saying this ‘grave danger to cricket’ etc. I will definitely appeal,” he told Sky Sports News. Kaneria has also been fined 100,000 pounds and fine could be deducted from his funds held up by Essex county.

Bravo fined over comments

West Indies’ Dwayne Bravo has been fined by the ICC after criticising officials for the dismissal of Chris Gayle in the second ODI against England. Gayle had made 53 in 51 balls when he was given out lbw to off-spinner Graeme Swann by umpire Tony Hill on Tuesday. “It’s okay,umpires do make mistakes — that’s accepted — but not when they see the referral as well and realise they’ve made the wrong decision and then stand by it,” Bravo had said.

Parnell stars for SA

Wayne Parnell spearheaded a much improved South Africa attack as they defeated Zimbabwe by six wickets in the final mini-league match at a non-cap Twenty20 tri-nations tournament. Zimbabwe failed to build on a bright start at Harare Sports Club and made only 124-6 off 20 overs while South Africa reached 130-4 with 14 balls to spare. India 6th in Beach Games

India picked up two gold medals and a bronze to finish sixth in the 3rd Asian Beach Games in China with the hosts topping the medals chart. China overtook Thailand with 14 gold medals,10 silver and 11 bronze medals for a total of 35. Korea were third,Indonesia fourth and Chinese Taipei fifth.

India rout Lebanon 5-2

India opened their campaign in the AFC Under-22 Football Championship on a rousing note,drubbing Lebanon 5-2 in the opening match of the tournament in Muscat on Saturday. Striker Mandeep Singh,who lost his grandfather three days back,paid the perfect tribute scoring with a scorching header off a Lalrindika cross in the 16th minute to put India in the lead. Alwyn George slotted it past an advancing rival goalkeeper Nazih Hassan in the 39th minute,before adding one more in the 55th minute,while Jeje Lalpekhlua scored his first goal in the 71st minute and completed the rout in the 90th minute.
