The Mumbai Police Crime Branch have allegedly found that model Simran Sood an accused in the Arun Tikku and Karan Kakad murder cases held a passport that was obtained through fraudulent means, sources said on Wednesday, adding that she is is likely to be booked under the Passport Act.
It has been found that the passport held by Sood was obtained through fraudulent means by providing false information. The passport was issued in Delhi in 2010 and the address mentioned on it is of an area named Dilshad Colony there. We believe she misrepresented facts to obtain the passport. She had also used it for travelling to Thailand, said a senior Crime Branch officer, who did not wish to be named.
The Crime Branch had earlier said Vijay Palande main accused in the two murder cases could soon land in further trouble with the police likely to book him for irregularities in the manner he procured his current passport.
Palande had allegedly obtained a genuine passport through fraudulent means and the Crime Branch said it was approaching passport officials for records on it.
According to the Crime Branch, the passport held by Palande is under his real name and was issued from Delhi in 2008. It was also allegedly obtained through fraudulent means by providing incorrect information. The address provided by Palande is in an area called Krishna Nagar in Delhi.
It could be that Sood and Palande both got the passports issued from Delhi as they might have taken the help of the same agent. Investigations are on in this regard, said a Crime Branch officer.
