Here’s your ticket to the late 19th and mid 20th centuries when Delhi,as we known it today,was taking shape. Dawn Upon Delhi – Rise of a Capital,an exhibition of 250 rare documents and photographs,takes a visitor past the trauma of the 1857 mutiny,to the tug and pull of politics and the emergence of New Delhi as a national capital. Some of the photographs date back to 1780s and show the making of the secretariat,glimpses of the Durbar and the early days of Connaught Circus. The exhibition will be held at NGMA till March 13. Composer and drummer Lukas Ligeti takes a break from shuttling between New York and Johannesburg to stop by Delhi on February 22. He presents his improvisations at Sound Reasons 0i,an evening of electro-acoustic music organised by Sarai. Play Dates

Kolkata-based theatreperson Usha Ganguli takes up the famous dance drama Chandalika,about untouchability and,finally,acceptance. The play will be the curtain-raiser of Natyanjali,a three-day festival of music,dance and drama based on Rabindranath Tagore’s works. The festival opens on February 20 at Tagore Theatre.
