Shiv Sena releases first list of 45, Shinde to contest from Kopri-Panchpakhadi

From Paithan constituency, the party has declared Vilas Bhumare, son of Sandipan Bhumre, who was a minister in the Shinde-led cabinet and became an MP.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena on Tuesday released its first list of 45 candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly polls, giving tickets to all 41 sitting MLAs and to those who had joined Shinde in his rebellion, except to those who went on to become MPs in the recently held Lok Sabha polls.

According to the list, Eknath Shinde will contest again from Kopri-Panchpakhadi assembly constituency. Most of the Sena ministers also would be contesting, except for Sandipan Bhumre who was elected as an MP from Aurangabad Lok Sabha constituency.

From Paithan constituency, the party has declared Vilas Bhumare, son of Sandipan Bhumre, who was a minister in the Shinde-led cabinet and became an MP.

From Jogeshwari east, the party has declared Manisha Ravindra Waikar, wife of Ravindra Waikar who was elected as MP from Mumbai North West recently. The party also declared Kiran Ravindra Samant, brother of Minister Uday Samant, from Rajapur assembly constituency.

Other prominent new candidates are Abhijit Adsul, son of former MP Anand Adsul from Daryapur, Kiran Samant from Rajapur, Arjun Khotkar from Jalna and Manjulatai Gavit from Sakri, who is sitting independent MLA.

The party has also announced Yamini Jadhav from Byculla, Dilip Lande from Chandivali, Manisha Ravindra Waikar from Jogeshwari East, Pratap Sarnaik from Majiwada, Yogesh Kadam from Dapoli, minister Uday Samant from Ratnagiri, minister Abdul Sattar from Sillod, Prakash Surve from Magathane, minister Dipak Kesarkar from Sawantwadi and minister Sanjay Rathod from Digras.

With the announcement of incumbent Sada Sarvankar from Mahim Assembly seat, Sena has paved way for a fight for the seat against Raj Thackeray’s son Amit Thackeray, ending speculations that Shinde will ally with MNS chief Raj Thackeray.
