Shiv Sena on Thursday announced its list of district-level in-charges for the upcoming Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat elections across Maharashtra. The announcement was made by the party chief and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who said the move was part of a broader strategy to strengthen the organisation ahead of the local body polls.

The party has appointed election in-charges for 31 districts, assigning responsibilities to ministers, MPs and senior legislators. Shinde said the appointments were made after detailed planning to ensure that both Shiv Sena and its alliance, the Mahayuti, put up a strong performance in the polls.

“With the blessings of Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray and inspiration from Dharmaveer Anand Dighe, we have chalked out a special strategy for the local elections,” Shinde said. “Our focus is on coordination with local workers and on taking the government’s development work and pro-people initiatives to every household.”

The in-charges have been tasked with overseeing campaign coordination, strengthening the grassroots network, and communicating the state government’s welfare programmes to voters. Party leaders said the effort is aimed at consolidating the organisation’s presence at the local level while maintaining unity within the ruling alliance.

Among the senior leaders named are ministers, Members of Parliament and MLAs from across the state. Uday Samant, Pratap Sarnaik, Shambhuraj Desai, Sanjay Rathod, Gulabrao Patil, and Abdul Sattar are among those who will play key roles in their respective districts.

According to the list released by the party, Nilesh Rane and Deepak Kesarkar will oversee Sindhudurg, while Uday Samant, Yogesh Kadam and Rajan Salvi have been given charge of Ratnagiri. Bharat Gogawale and Mahendra Thorve will handle responsibilities in Raigad. In Vidarbha, Ashish Jaiswal has been assigned Gadchiroli and Gondia, while Sanjay Rathod will lead efforts in Yavatmal.

The list also includes responsibilities for leaders such as Tanaji Sawant in Latur, Pratap Sarnaik in Dharashiv and Gulabrao Patil in Jalgaon. In Pune, Shrirang Barne and Vijay Shivtare will oversee preparations, while Shambhuraj Desai and Mahesh Shinde will handle Satara.

Party functionary said the exercise reflects the leadership’s attempt to build an early momentum for the local body polls, which are expected to serve as a litmus test for the ruling alliance’s performance at the grassroots level.
