Television show Bigg Boss is considered a platform that helps resurrect careers of semi-celebrities. So when actress Monica Bedi showed up for Bigg Boss Season 2 in 2008,soon after her acquittal in the fake passport case,it was expected to revive her career. Her tag as gangster Abu Salem’s ex-girlfriend was lure enough to draw filmmakers,who lined up at her doorstep with scripts. However,Bedi turned them all down for Nepali film Parichay,Tamil film Devdasi and Punjabi film Sirphire. While the first two are still in post-production,Sirphire is likely to release later this month. The actress of Punjabi origin plays the character of Simran,one of three ‘sirphires’ who are taken in by ‘western’ ways. It takes an incident for them to get back in sync with Indian culture.
