Securing Shakti Mills will cost Rs 1.58 crore,PWD tells HC

The cost of removing shrubbery has been estimated to be Rs 17 lakh,Patil told the court. The court asked the official liquidator,custodian of the mill,to issue a tender notice and begin the process for removal of the undergrowth.

Amicus curie (friend of the court) Naushad Engineer told the court that a corpus of Rs 1.5 crore was available with the official liquidator after paying off the dues of the mill.

The court said the compound should be secured in a phased manner.

The court asked the official liquidator and the PWD to finalise the tenders for removal of the shrubbery and debris by next week and keep other tenders ready.

The court said the tenders should be issued by the official liquidator and not PWD. “Let it not become a procedure under the state government unless the government is paying for it. Otherwise it will become counter-productive,” Jamdar said.

Counsel for the contributors of Shree Shakti Mills Mayur Khandeparkar said if the railway authorities agree to build the wall along the railway track,the liquidator’s expenses may come down. The court asked assistant official liquidator Rupa Sutar to request Western Railway authorities to attend the liquidator’s office to put forth their stand in the case.
