Santacruz maximum temperature up,minimum goes down

The maximum temperature rose around two degrees above normal in Santacruz on Thursday to record 35°C while the minimum temperature dropped around two degrees below normal to 23.5°C.

The maximum temperature rose around two degrees above normal in Santacruz on Thursday to record 35°C while the minimum temperature dropped around two degrees below normal to 23.5°C.

As the maximum temperature rose to 35.8°C in Santacruz on April 22,it first went on the decline and then steadily rose again to go around two degrees above its normal of 33.2°C on Thursday.

However,Colaba’s maximum temperature has been around 32.5°C on an average in this period and on Thursday was around its normal of 33°C,at 32.9°C. Santacruz’s minimum on the day though dropped below the normal of 25.3°C to record 23.5°C while Colaba’s was 25.6°C around its normal of 25.9°C.

“This is a seasonal variation and not a significant change,” said VK Rajeev,Director,India Meteorological Department (IMD).

“In the next two days,both the maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to return to normal. The sky may be partly cloudy as the cloud over the Arabian Sea due to heating persists,” he said.
