Samruddhi Expressway: MSRDC starts third phase of expansion

(File Photo)The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has initiated the third phase of Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Expressway’s expansion which will link the districts of Bhandara, Gondia and Gadchiroli.
The third phase will consist of building three separate arms. The MSRDC has floated a tender for the construction of an access controlled expressway from Nagpur to Gondia that will span a length of 127 kms to be built at a cost Rs 7,345 crore. Another 28 km stretch connecting Bhandara to Gondia will be built at Rs 1,587 crore and a 194 km Nagpur to Chandrapur stretch will be constructed at Rs 9,543.2 crore.

Work was progressing on the remaining 101 km stretch, with its opening slated for July this year.
The MSRDC had earlier planned the second phase of the corridor’s expansion connecting the districts of Jalna, Parbhani and Nanded through a 180-km link to be built at a cost of Rs 19,000 crpre.
