Salem aide attacked in Arthur Road Jail

Abu Salem aide Mehendi Hasan,an accused in the Pradeep Jain murder case,was on Saturday allegedly attacked inside Arthur Road Jail by two undertrials “with a sharp and blunt object”. He was injured in the chin and the right hand.

NM Joshi Marg police said Hasan,an undertrial since 2005,was on his way to JJ Hospital for a monthly checkup when the duo waylaid him between circle number 10 and the jail mess. They said jail authorities intervened. The duo,Pratap Pandey and Abhay Shelar,booked under MCOCA for extortion,are suspected Pandav Putra gang members. Hasan alleged Mustafa Dossa— recently shifted from the jail after a fight with Salem — was behind Saturday’s attack. ENS
