Rs 50-crore state grant for VJTI

Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Friday announced that the state has granted Rs 50 crore to the Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute,Matunga. He was at the institute on its convocation day.

Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Friday announced that the state has granted Rs 50 crore to the Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI),Matunga. He was at the institute on its convocation day. Last week,representatives from VJTI had met the CM and sought Rs 143 crore for its expansion plans. The proposals are aimed at developing VJTI into a major postgraduate research institute. They include introduction of 14 new postgraduate programmes,construction of a separate building for housing classes,a new hostel for PG students,a new building for housing faculty,new laboratories,upgrade of current facilities and so on.
