Rashly driven crane crushes traffic cop to death
According to the police sources, at around 12.30 pm the hanging iron hook of the hydra crane vehicle, which was being driven rashly by its operator, hit Patil, who fell down and came under its front wheels.

A 41-year-old traffic police constable of Navi Mumbai police died after he was allegedly hit by a moving crane vehicle, on duty in the Mhape area of Navi Mumbai Thursday afternoon.
Traffic cop Ganesh Patil was attached to the Mhape traffic unit and was maintaining traffic flow near Mahape bridge. According to the police sources, at around 12.30 pm the hanging iron hook of the hydra crane vehicle, which was being driven rashly by its operator, hit Patil, who fell down and came under its front wheels. Patil sustained serious injuries prompting his colleague policemen to rush him to Vashi civic hospital, where he was declared dead before admission.
His body was sent for post-mortem examination. The crane driver Rajesh Gound was detainedand was handed over to the Turbhe MIDC police station which subsequently arrested him, said a police officer. He was charged him with relevant provisions of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act.
Police have sent his blood sample for tests, and their reports are awaited.
