Khandu Rangnekar XI are in sight of an outright victory with just 154 runs separating them from glory on Day Two of the three-day Sportstar Trophy MCA U-19 Selection Trial Tournament at Sachivalaya Gymkhana. Building on a first innings lead of 14 runs,Rangnekar XI bowled out Dattu Phadkar XI for 178 in the first round match and by stumps had reached 10 for no loss in pursuit of 160.
Left-arm spinner Sagar Mishra claimed impressive figures of 4/41 for Rangnekar XI in the second innings while Kunal Gawand top-scored for Phadkar XI with defiant 53. In another first round tie at Vengsarkar Academy,Vijay Merchant XI batsmen Pranay Patil (48),Jayesh Patil (35),Vikrant Auti (33) and Parikshit Valsankar (32) grasped their opportunities and made the most of them before their team’s declaration arrived at 267/8. Sachin Yadavs unbeaten 40 helped Manjrekar XI recover from a 110-run deficit to reach 90 for no loss in the second innings.
