(Express Photo: Amit Chakravarty)Raj Thackeray-Uddhav Thackeray Rally Today Live Updates: After nearly two decades, as estranged cousins Uddhav and Raj Thackeray came together on one stage during their victory rally in Worli, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief hinted at an alliance with MNS, saying, “We came together to remain together.” The MNS chief echoed his emotions and said that Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has done what even Balasaheb Thackeray failed to do — “bring him and Uddhav together.”
Why is the rally being organised? The rally marks a political victory for the two parties after Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis revoked two GRs that had introduced Hindi as a third language in primary schools. The first GR made Hindi a mandatory third language for students from Class 1 to 5, while the second had made it optional. The CM had also announced the formation of Narendra Jadhav committee to reexamine the three-language policy.

Withdrawal of GRs: On Friday, CM Fadnavis said that no one in the state should be targeted for not knowing Marathi. His comments came just days after MNS workers assaulted a shopkeeper for not speaking in Marathi. The following day, the state administration issued another resolution declaring that October 3 would now be celebrated annually as “Classical Marathi Language Day.”
