Pirated DVDs,CDs worth lakhs seized

Pirated CDs and DVDs of recently released films like Kites,Prince of Persia,Rajneeti and Iron Man 2 were seized in a joint raid of the police teams from Mumbai,Wada,Ahmedabad and United Copyright Protection Association and A A Khan and Associates.

Pirated CDs and DVDs of recently released films like Kites,Prince of Persia,Rajneeti and Iron Man 2 were seized in a joint raid of the police teams from Mumbai,Wada,Ahmedabad and United Copyright Protection Association (UPCA) and A A Khan and Associates. Over 25,000 discs and 22 DVD writers worth Rs 26 lakh were recovered.

On May 1,under the jurisdiction of B Ward,UPCA conducted a raid with police at the junction of Yusuf Meherali Road and Abdul Rehman Street,Majid bunder. The team along with BMC seized a total of 1,500 pirated discs.

On June 1,UPCA also conducted a raid at Malwani market in Malad west along with the police. They seized 2,984 pirated discs worth Rs 4.09 lakh. Three people were arrested. On June 3,another raid was conducted near Hotel Sarovar outside Kandvali west railway station and 1,400 discs worth Rs 2 lakh were seized and two people were arrested.

Raids were also conducted in Wada on June 5. AA Khan & Associates had conducted a joint raid with Wada police on a pirated movie discs manufacturing plant and seized 12,956 pirated DVDs worth Rs 14 lakh. The team also seized 22 DVD writers and two processors. On June 4,UPCA conducted a joint raid with a team from Sirkach police station in Ahmedabad on a godown of pirated movie discs.
