The play Bombay Talkies,written and directed by Vikram Kapadia,brings together eight stories,told by people one meets in the city that was once Bombay,now Mumbai.

The play Bombay Talkies,written and directed by Vikram Kapadia,brings together eight stories,told by people one meets in the city that was once Bombay,now Mumbai. This English play opened at the NCPA’s Centrestage Festival in November 2011. Now,it returns to the stage in a Hindi version,adapted by Naushil Mehta. Actor Namit Das will reprise his role of a Gujarati boy dreaming of an American life while not quite ready to let go his aspirations in India. Rest of the cast,Shishir Sharma,Ratnabali Bhattacharjee and Rasika Dugal,are new.

This play explores the story of Baby Dimple,a former Bollywood child star,Patrick who grew up in the bylanes of Bandra,single mother Kavita Dubey,jaded journalist Neha Sharma and “fixer” Raj Gidwani. The Hindi play opens at Prithvi Theatre on April 25 at 9pm. This is followed by shows on April 26 at 6.30pm and 9.30pm.
