In a serious setback to the NCP,its Sitting MLA and Jalgaon strongman Sureshdada Jain resigned and joined the Shiv Sena for the second time. He is likely to contest the Lok Sabha election on Sena ticket.

On Friday,Jain resigned as a member of the legislative assembly and met Sena chief Bal Thackeray at the latter’s residence Matoshri in Mumbai to seek blessings.

Jain was at loggerheads with NCP chief Sharad Pawar ever since he was removed from his ministerial position in the state government four years ago following allegations of corruption made by veteran social worker Anna Hazare. In the local polls at Jalgaon last year,Jain had formed a local front to prevent the NCP from retaining power in the municipal body.

Jain had been elected as MLA from Jalgaon in 1980,1995,1999,and 2004. He was with Congress till 1995 but defected to the Sena to become a minister. Later,in 2004 he had joined the NCP,but had to quit in 2005 following charges of irregularities.
