NCLT deputy registrar held for accepting bribe of Rs 3 lakh
The CBI registered a case on May 14 against the said accused on the allegations of the complainant, a hotel owner.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday arrested the deputy registrar of National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 3 lakh from a person for getting a matter at NCLT settled in his favour.
The deputy registrar, identified as Charan Pratap Singh, and another person, Karsan Ahir, were caught by the CBI while allegedly accepting the bribe, following which they were placed under arrest.
The CBI registered a case on May 14 against the said accused on the allegations of the complainant, a hotel owner.
The complainant was involved in a dispute with his brothers, regarding the ownership of the said hotel and frauds done by his brother and his associates, a note by the CBI read.
That matter was pending and sub-judice in NCLT Mumbai Court number IV for the last five years, an official said.
On May 11, the accused deputy registrar of NCLT, Mumbai demanded an undue advantage of Rs 3.50 lakh from the complainant for helping him in the matter by using his contacts and getting the matter settled in his favour.
The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused Karsan Ahir red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 3 lakh on behalf of the accused deputy registrar.
During trap proceedings, later on, the accused Deputy Registrar was also arrested by CBI after confirming acceptance of a bribe. The CBI conducted searches at the locations of the accused persons in Mumbai and Lucknow.
