Mumbai records second highest Feb day temperature in last 8 yrs
The IMD had issued a heatwave warning for Mumbai between February 25 and 26 and weather officials maintained that while heat wave like conditions will not continue for now however hot and humid weather will continue.

A day after it recorded the highest maximum day temperature for February since 2017, Mumbai recorded its second highest in the last eight years on Wednesday.
The India Meteorology Department’s (IMD) Santacruze observatory recorded a day temperature of 38.5 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, which was 5.7 degrees above normal levels. A day before, Mumbai recorded 38.7 degrees, which was the highest day temperature recorded in February since 2017.
Meanwhile on Wednesday, the IMD’s coastal observatory at Colaba recorded a day temperature of 35.3 degrees, which was 4.3 degrees above normal level.

“During the weekend the temperature may drop by one or two degrees but there will be no big respite for now as humid conditions may continue to exist,” Sushma Nair, scientist from IMD, Mumbai told the Indian Express on Wednesday.
Nair said that at present the city was witnessing higher than normal temperatures due to the presence of strong Easterlies. This delays breeze settling over the sea by a few hours.
“Today (Wednesday), the breeze settled over the sea around 1 pm in the afternoon. We are predicting a reversal in winds in the next couple of days and as a result, the presence of strong easterlies will reduce and temperatures may see a drop,” Nair added.
Over the past week, Mumbai has recorded hotter days and moderately cooler nights. The average day temperature ranged between 36-37 degrees, which was higher in Mumbai’s average February temperature of 31.8 degrees.
Meanwhile, Mumbai’s minimum temperature recorded at the Santacruz observatory stood at 21 degrees while the coastal observatory at Kerala recorded a minimum temperature of 23.6 degrees.
