Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday said that the upcoming Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) will lay the foundation of a new megapolis in the vicinity of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai that would play an important role in boosting the state’s economy.
The CM and deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday visited the MTHL to mark its milestone with the last steel deck span — the Golden Joint — providing an uninterrupted link between the two ends of the bridge.
“With MTHL, all land constraints will resolve. All development can take place in Chirle Raigad area, as besides MTHL, a multi-modal corridor and other projects are also coming up. In fact the other side of the MTHL in Navi Mumbai has 65 per cent of scope for development of data centre with availability of huge land parcels over there,” Fadnavis said adding that for next 20 years, MTHL will boost the economy.
To mark the milestone, the CM and deputy CM flagged of an open deck BEST carrying MMRDA officials on the bridge.
They also rode a vehicle on the deck of MTHL with Fadnavis taking to the wheels and Shinde sitting beside him.
