MSRDC seeks private consultant to oversee toll operations on Mumbai-Pune Expressway
Previously, another agency acted as a mediator between MSRDC and IRB, but its contract expired, with only a short-term extension granted. Bloom was the last appointed independent engineer.

The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has initiated the process of appointing private consultants to monitor toll collection, operations and maintenance of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway (94 km) and the old Mumbai-Pune Highway. The appointment will be done in an attempt to ensure better management of these key roadways.
MSRDC has recently floated a tender inviting expert agencies to take on this responsibility for the next three years. The selected firm will oversee the performance of the existing toll-operating agency, IRB, ensuring compliance with operational and maintenance standards.
Beyond toll monitoring, the appointed consultants will also oversee repairs and maintenance of local link roads, bridges, entry and exit ramps, and related infrastructure. The scope of work includes resurfacing the bituminous road surface, applying thermoplastic road markings, and improving traffic signages.

Toll collection on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway is permitted until 2030, with IRB securing the contract through an upfront payment.
