Month before Kurar,girl gangraped in same hillock

The incident would not have come to light had it not been for the MMS clip which captured the gruesome rape. The clip was being circulated in the Kurar neighbourhood and was eventually reported by a news channel.

“We got a call from a man in the girls’ neighbourhood who informed us about the victim and the boys involved in the crime. The man had heard the mention of the clip through news channels,” said a senior officer with the Kurar Police station.

On Saturday,the Kurar police arrested four accused,while the main accused identified as Suraj Nepali is absconding.

Shockingly,one of the accused is a minor while two others below twenty years includes the victim’s nephew Rajesh Jaiswal.

The victim’s family had sent the victim back to Uttar Pradesh after she informed them of the rape.

“She was forced to take drugs and then the boys took turns in raping her. The incident has been captured on a cellphone by one of the accused,” said an officer. “It’s a grainy video but we will be able to build a strong case as it clearly shows the faces of the accused. In the absence of the medical test in this case,the video is our primary evidence,he added.

The police are also looking at the trail of how the clip was circulated.

On May 9,the girl was returning from a temple with five boys from the neighbourhood in a hired vehicle.

“There seems to have been a scuffle over some personal issue between Nepali and the girl after which the boys took her to the hillock. They first forced her to take drugs. Experts who are trying to work on the clip can hear her shout for help,” said the officer.

The probe has found that the boys were carrying some drug available easily in medical shops and also a small quantity of charas.

“They will all form part of the investigation as now we will also be probing if the gangrape was planned,” he added.
