A four-page report by the Fire Department of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has concluded that someone had deliberately tried to set Gold Mohur Mills on fire.
On January 20,Gold Mohur Mills on Dadasaheb Phalke Road in Dadar suspiciously caught fire destroying the structure completely. According to the report, the act was well executed to destroy each and every pillar of the structure. The report also talks about three different locations where fire erupted with different source. No short circuit or accident led to the fire. Three small fires were noticed away from the main fire. The reason for such staggered eruptions invokes suspicion, states the report.
It was only after 20 minutes that a call was made to the fire brigade, the report claims.
Based on this report, the Bhoiwada police have filed a FIR against Ahmedabad-based scrap dealer Gaurav Patel; Wajid,a contractor appointed by him and six of Wajids labourers. Gold Mohur Mills is jointly owned by the National Textile Corporation and Gold Mohur Design Apparel. All the accused are booked under several sections under the Indian Penal code for conspiracy and mischief by fire or explosive substance.
The initial investigation uncovered the plan of the group who allegedly went ahead with setting wooden planks and pillars on fire. We are awaiting the forensic report to find the exact components used to set fire. So far,no arrests have been made. We are collecting all incriminating evidence against the accused, said Police Inspector Rajendra Obale.
Investigating officers also claim that certain doubtful movements were made within the mill in the past few months. We cant comment until the forensic report is provided to us. However, the seizures made by us contained substances which could have been used for this mischief, added Obale.
