MMRDA to maintain roads near its construction sites

In A meeting convened by Mayor Shraddha Jadhav on Tuesday it was decided that the MMRDA will maintain

In A meeting convened by Mayor Shraddha Jadhav on Tuesday it was decided that the MMRDA will maintain and renovate the roads where their work is under way and for which the BMC was given a deadline of June 20.

The civic agency faced flak for waterlogging after the first few showers of the monsoon this year.

“We told the MMRDA to ensure that the roads near the Metro and Monorail construction sites should be maintained by them. If they fail to do so till the deadline,we will take action against them. We will help the Railways and the residential areas within the Mumbai Port Trust to collect garbage from some spots,” said Jadhav.

She added that the stormwater line near the newly constructed Lalbuag flyover needs to be connected to the main line so that the water doesn’t get accumulated. The traffic department said if the height of the stretch of road between Vile Parle and Goregaon is increased by 1.5 feet, the area will not get submerged under water, affecting traffic on the highway.
