MMRDA sets up 24X7 control room

The helpline numbers are 26591241,26594176 and 8080705051.

To minimise inconvenience to motorists and pedestrians during monsoon,MMRDA has set up a 24-hour control room as part of its annual routine.

Five MMRDA officials will monitor the rooms,to be managed by 41 officials in three shifts. The control room has been operational from June 1. The helpline numbers are 26591241,26594176 and 8080705051.

“Citizens can seek help from the control room for various problems — such as uprooted trees, water logging, accidents, traffic snarls, and potholes. Control room officials will also welcome information on any impending danger. They will work in tandem with railways,BMC,traffic police,BEST and fire brigade,” said MMRDA spokesperson Dilip Kawathkar.

Additional metropolitan commissioner Ashwini Bhide said MMRDA had instructed contractors to strictly adhere to safety measures wherever construction work was under way.“They should follow norms on barricading, clearing the muck on the roads and so on. Contractors will maintain dewatering pumps of adequate capacity at spots prone to waterlogging spots and in areas where stormwater drains have no connectivity,” Bhide said.
