The Body of a three-and-a-half-year-old boy, missing from Ghatkopar since Friday morning, was found on Friday night in a car parked near his house. The car is owned by a Nashik-based doctor, police said.
Based on external injury marks on the body of Aryan Devale, the police have registered a case of murder against unidentified persons.
According to the police,Aryan had come to Mumbai from Hyderabad with his mother Pinky (22) to spend summer holidays at his maternal grandmothers place at Ramabai Colony in Ghatkopar a few days ago. On Friday morning,Aryan went missing while playing outside his house. His family lodged a missing person complaint at Pant Nagar police station in the evening, police said.
Even as police started a search, the body was discovered at night in a dusty car parked outside a clinic around 50 metres from his house. The car apparently belongs to one Dr Harish Ahire who lives in Nashik. The body was found after Ahires daughter, who stays nearby, saw some street dogs barking near the car. The car had been abandoned for 7-8 months in front of the clinic run by his daughter. When she peeped into the car,she saw the boy lying inside and alerted the authorities. Aryan was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead on arrival, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 7) Rajkumar Vhatkar.
Though police initially suspected Aryan might have entered the car and died of suffocation, they have not ruled out murder as there were external injury marks on the body and bleeding from the mouth. We registered a murder case and are investigating. The post mortem reports are awaited. Till then, nothing can be said at this juncture, Vhatkar said.
