An old and abandoned studio at Essel World,Gorai, caught fire early on Tuesday afternoon. Two fire engines and one jumbo tanker were dispatched to the spot. However,Essel World authorities doused the flames before their arrival. The fire was extinguished within an hour and did not cause any harm to anybody. There was no serious loss of property either. Fire and police officials are yet to ascertain the cause of the fire.
The fire was noticed at 11:30 am by a few employees of Essel World, who attempted to douse it before calling the fire brigade, said Police Sub Inspector Ramesh Vudhar of the Gorai Police. The structure is made of fibre glass and is on an iron framework. The fibre glass caught fire and was damaged but the iron framework was unharmed. Overall no major damage was done to the structure. As it has been abandoned for the past five to seven years,we do not believe that sabotage could have been the cause, said Vudhar.
The fire took place in a structure that was not in the main customer interaction area of the park, said Jude Montario,Vice President (Operations) of Water Kingdom. We have a small private fire engine and doused the fire much before the fire brigade arrived. Montario also denied any heavy losses stating,We havent faced any major losses due to the incident. All that was burnt were some old records or things that were stored. The heat and the wind made it look like a large fire but this was not the case. There werent even any employees in the vicinity at the time.
When asked how the fire was doused before the fire brigade came in,Vudhar said,The fire brigade took some time to come as they have to go around Bhayander and Kashimira to get to the theme park. By the time they reached the authorities of the park had the fire in control and they just had to finish the job.
