Mhase case: HC grants CBI 6 more weeks for chargesheet

The Bombay High Court has granted the Central CBI an extension of six weeks to file a chargesheet in a bribery case.

The Bombay High Court has granted the Central CBI an extension of six weeks to file a chargesheet in a bribery case in which the daughter of a retired HC judge is alleged to be involved. On July 23,the CBI had said it will file its chargesheet within two weeks. On Thursday,the agency’s counsel Sandeep Shinde filed an application seeking an extension. The CBI,in its FIR last year,alleged Manisha Mhase was involved in demanding Rs 30 lakh from a litigant in exchange for a favourable order from the state consumer redressal forum. Manisha is the daughter of Justice (Retd) S B Mhase,who was acting president of the forum then.
