Drivers of Meru Cabs resumed services on Saturday after the company agreed to reinstate the 21 drivers it had suspended for damaging vehicles and forcing passengers out during the nine-day strike earlier this month. The drivers were on a strike since Wednesday,the second this month,demanding reinstatement of the 21 suspended drivers and a rollback in subscription fee the amount a driver pays the company per day. We had a discussion with the management today and it agreed to reinstate the suspended drivers unconditionally, said AK Tiwari,secretary,Swabhimaan Sanghatana,the union that had called the strike. They have asked for eight more days to take a decision on the subscription fee. Tiwari said he expected the management to cut subscription fee,which is Rs 1,025 now,by at least Rs 25. Earlier,the union had called a strike on October 3 on five demands. The company had accepted three,but was unyielding on two a cut in subscription fee and three days leave for drivers in a month.
