Man held for running fake job racket

A 41-year-old man was arrested by the Azad Maidan police on Sunday for allegedly running a job racket for the past four months.

A 41-year-old man was arrested by the Azad Maidan police on Sunday for allegedly running a job racket for the past four months. The accused,Pune-based Pravin Shah,had allegedly advertised online a mass recruitment drive for Namibia.

Investigating officers said Shah was arrested after several persons,claiming that Shah had cheated them on the pretext of offering jobs to them. “Sunil Kumar,resident of Vishakapatnam,and his friends who had read the advertisement told Shah that they were interested in the job,” an officer from the Azad Maidan police said.

The officer said nearly 84 persons contacted Shah. “Shah told them to send their passport and personal details,with a payment. He received Rs 34.35 lakh for the deal,” the officer said. Shah was produced in court on Monday and has been remanded in police custody until March 22. ens
