Lovely News for Indie Films

A drama set in the C-grade movie industry of Mumbai in the mid-80s,Miss Lovely follows the story of Vicky.

After creating a splash at the Cannes — where it premiered in the Un Certain Regard category in 2012 — and the Mumbai Film Festival,the same year,where it won the best film in India Gold Section,Ashim Ahluwalia’s Miss Lovely is finally set for an India release in January 2014.

A drama set in the C-grade movie industry of Mumbai in the mid-80s,Miss Lovely follows the story of Vicky,a film producer of sleazy horror films and his brother Sonu. Sonu falls in love with a woman,who is sucked into the murky world of his brother’s business. What follows is a story of the three characters caught amid thwarted ambitions,doomed love and jealousy. Starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui,Anil George and Niharika Singh,the film is expected to release through start-up theatrical distributor Easel Films along with Eagle Movies.
