There was light rainfall in Colaba in the early hours of Saturday with the weather department saying there is a possibility of light showers in the city over the next two days as well. It was, however, not pre-monsoon showers.
Colaba weather station recorded 0.1 mm rainfall between 5.30 am and 8.30 am Saturday. The south-westerly winds have been prevailing over the city for the past one or two days. These winds bring in moisture increasing humidity, which led to light rain on Saturday, said the officer-on-duty at the IMD.
The relative humidity at 5.30 pm on Saturday was 68 per cent in Colaba and 61 per cent in Santacruz.
These winds are likely to prevail for the next one or two days and thus there is a possibility of light showers in some areas in the city, he said.
Meanwhile, maximum temperature was still hovering above normal on Saturday with the island city recording 35.5°C,the same as the previous day,and Santacruz recording 34.2°C,down from 34.5°C the previous day. Minimum temperature rose slightly from the previous day to 28.6°C in Colaba and and 28.8° C in Santacruz.
Owing to moisture that resists sudden changes in temperatures, the weather department does not expect much change in temperatures in the next two days.
