A Leopard was found dead in a village in Wardha district on Friday morning. While villagers claim it was killed by a bullock it tried to attack,another version has it that the villagers had beaten it to death.
Chief Conservator of Forest (Nagpur) C R Gajbhiye told The Indian Express that the leopard had entered Dhanoli village in Arvi tahsil around midnight. When it entered a cowshed belonging to a villager,Shankarrao Kale,commotion ensued. When Kale rushed to save his animals,the leopard attacked him,causing minor injuries. Other villagers,meanwhile,too rushed. In the melee,the leopard died. One report says a bullock lifted it on its horns and threw it away,leading to its death. The other report says villagers had beaten it to death. We are investigating, he said. Kale has been admitted to a hospital.
