Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devavrat on Friday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi hails from a divine system and him coming to earth should be a matter of pride for every Indian.

“Modiji is not only the Prime Minister of India but a thought, a spiritual power, he is our inspiration, a pride of the nation. A personality like him comes from a divine system,” said Devavrat, while releasing the book ‘Modi’s Mission’ written by acclaimed journalist, lawyer and author Berjis Desai.

The book launch was attended by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Maharashtra Legislative Council chairman Ram Shinde and Shiv Sena MP Milind Deora, among others.

Giving examples of decisions taken by PM Modi such as abrogation of Article 370 and Ram Mandir, the Governor said the decisions taken by Modiji cannot be taken by a commoner. “Behind this (the decisions) stand a divine system and a person who has no self-interest but only public welfare. Only then such big issues get solved easily. He is such a person that him coming to earth should be a matter of proud for every Indian,” he said.

The Governor reiterated PM Modi’s stopping the war between Russia and Ukraine to ensure safe passage for Indians from these countries.

Earlier, author Desai said the book was not another biography of PM Modi. “As events are unfolding in our amidst, we are unable to realise the place Narendra Modi will hold in the history of modern India,” he said, saying that while researching the book, he encountered intellectual elites, along with the Western media and Left-leaning historians, who are prejudiced against PM Modi and constantly work to undermine his work.

“In the decades to come, history will dispassionately conclude that there are uncanny similarities between the life works of Mahatma (Gandhi) and Narendra Modi. The common theme has been service and sacrifice,” he said, adding that the first and last lines of his book mentioned that 50 years later, Modi and Gandhi will be mentioned in the same breath and in the same order.

Fadnavis, in his speech, seconded the author when he said that the sentence in the book which read, “it was Gandhi in 20th century and Modi in 21st century”, captures the gist of it.

“I believe that Modiji has laid the foundations for Viksit Bharat at 2047 and whoever comes next, the building will be built… I believe the kind of work he has done is someone who does so in over a century,” Fadnavis said.

“Today we have classes who question the constitutional bodies in the country only when things do not go in their favour. Instead, Modiji worked to ensure that the judiciary as an institution works independently… we expect that in the coming days judicial reforms may come to increase non-partisanship and accountability of judiciary,” the CM said.

Shinde said PM Modi in his last 11 years in office has completed several impossible missions. “When the history of modern India will be written, it will show the extent of work done by Modiji for the development of this nation and its people. To the CM and Governor sitting here, I suggest that some parts of the book be included in the school curriculum to inspire the next generation,” he said.
