Twelve hours before the beginning of Anna Hazare’s agitation demanding a stronger Lokpal Bill,last-minute preparations were still on at the MMRDA ground in the Bandra-Kurla Complex.

While IAC volunteers claimed that close to a lakh people might turn up at the three-day protest, seating arrangements have been made for about 50,000 people at a time.

A large podium has been erected in the centre of the ground for Hazare and other persons leading the protest. Other platforms around the venue have also been erected for television cameras and onlookers, including one right in front of the main stage. On the evening before the protest,IAC volunteers began shouting slogans and giving speeches to the crowd.

Arrangements have also been made by the volunteers for protesters to spend the night at the ground. A separate area with mattresses, toilets and water tumblers has been created. Deepak Patel, who was at the ground on Monday, said: “I came here around 5 in the evening. I plan to spend the night here and watch the preparations for Hazare’s fast.”
