After a slew of international metal performances in the last six months, from Swedish metalheads Opeth in February to American heavyweights Lamb of God in April,it’s now time for American band Korn to add some music to mosh pits. The band is credited for defining the nu-metal music genre in the mid-’90s. The four-member outfit has announced their maiden India tour itinerary — Gurgaon on September 5,Mumbai on September 7 and Bengaluru on September 9.

“We are excited to be heading to India for the first time. It’s an incredible country with such a rich history, and we just can’t wait to perform there for the first time ever as Korn. We see so many fans on Facebook from India, and I’ve personally heard how crazy Indian fans are. All I can say is that come September,IT’S ON,” said Jonathan Davis, the band’s frontman,in an official statement.

Formed in 1993,the band consists of Davis,James ‘Munky’ Shaffer,Reginald ‘Fieldy’ Arvizu and Ray Luzier. Ten albums and two Grammy Awards are a testimony to their skills — and the controversy surrounding their colourful lyrics has only added to the fan base. Expect their signature sounds — grinding guitars, angsty lyrics and screeching electronic effects.
