A 54-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stabbing to death his elder sister over a property dispute in Juhu on Friday.

According to police, the accused, Ashish Raghunath Karandikar, had left his home 15 years ago to live in Meghalaya returned around two years back.

The deceased, Anvaya Kiran Paigankar, 57, had shifted to her mother’s place in in Andheri (West) to look after her and also the two children of the accused.

According to the statement of Karandikar’s son Mrigank, 21, after returning home, his father would often have fights with Paigankar over their properties.

Around 8.15 am on Friday, Mrigank heard his aunt Paigankar scream from his father’s room.

When he rushed to his room, he saw his father (Karandikar) holding a knife in his hand and dragging his aunt by her hair, Mrigank stated in the FIR adding that the accused stabbed her in the stomach.

Mrigank, his elder sister and their grandmother took the injured Paigankar to another room.

Later, the family called an ambulance and the police. The injured Paigankar was rushed to hospital where she died.
The Juhu police arrested the accused and booked him for murder, an officer said.
