ISCE Class XII results out, state’s pass percentage better that national average

At 96.86 per cent, Maharashtra has crossed the 2014 all-India pass percentage of 95.27 in the Indian School Certificate Examination (ISCE) Class XII results declared Saturday afternoon.

Girls performed better than the boys at both state and all-India levels. In Maharashtra, their pass percentage stood at 97.90 per cent as against 95.86 per cent of the boys. At all-India level, their pass percentage was 96.58 per cent compared to 94.18 of the boys. The all-India pass percentage is up by 0.12 per cent from the last year. The southern region of the country has performed the best with a pass percentage of 98.32 per cent. Western India is on the second spot with 95.74 per cent followed by north India at 95.01 per cent and east at 94.92 per cent.

The ISCE examination is conducted in 48 written subjects of which 14 are Indian languages and 5 are foreign languages.

Arjun Iyer, who scored 98.25 per cent, is one of the top-scorers from the city. Iyer, a student of Leelavati Podar School in Santacruz, says, “I expected a good percentage but I feel happy to have achieved it. I want to pursue a degree in physics at the graduation level.”

In Maharashtra, 19 Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates took the examination achieving a pass percentage of 89.47 per cent, while 21 Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates achieved a pass percentage of 80.95 per cent. Eighty-three Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates achieved a pass percentage of 98.80% in the state.

The ISCE Class X results will be declared on May 21.
