Indian Express photographer Narendra Vaskar wins 2nd prize in national contest

The two-day exhibition of photographs held at Balasaheb Thackeray Memorial (Thane) was inaugurated by public works minister, Ravindra Chavan, on August 19 which was celebrated as World Photography Day.

Photographer of The Indian Express, Narendra Vaskar, has won the second prize in the National Photography Contest, 2023, organised by Thane Shahar Dainik Patrakar Sangh and Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC). Vaskar won the award in the aerial photography category.

This was the 25th edition of the photography contest and the first after the Covid-19 pandemic.

A three-member jury comprising photojournalists Pablo Bartholomew, Atul Loke, Vikas Khot and Kedar Bhat selected the winners from a total of 14,000 photos submitted for entry in the contest by 3,196 photojournalists from across the country.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde presented the awards to the winners on Sunday.
