AFTER bagging a slew of awards, including three National Awards,Gurvinder Singhs Anhey Ghohrey Da Daan (Alms for a Blind Horse) has been selected for a screening at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA),New York. The Punjabi film will be screened from August 22-28,as part of their
ContemporAsian series.
Based on a Punjabi novel, the feature film follows a small-town family that gets caught up in a power struggle when a neighbours home is demolished. The MoMA officials believe that the film calls attention to the latent violence that resides in those who see no possibility for a better life. As part of the package,MoMa is also presenting two of the late Indian filmmaker Mani Kauls films,Dhrupad and Siddheshwari, from August 24-26.
