“On Saturday (March 30) several pockets in Marathwada and central Maharashtra recorded rainfall along with gusty winds and thunderstorms. This rainfall is short term and may carry on today (March 31) only,” Sushma Nair, scientist from IMD, Mumbai, told Express on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Mumbai on a daily basis is recording an average maximum temperature between 32 and 34 degrees Celsius. Nair said that after April 5, there might be a sudden increase in temperature that may cause discomfort.

“Even though we are predicting higher temperatures between April 5 and 7, our current observations say the maximum temperature recorded will not surpass the 35-degree Celsius mark, and will range between 32 and 34 degrees only,” Nair said.

On Sunday, the Santacruze observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 34.5 degrees Celsius, which was one degree above normal, while the Colaba coastal observatory recorded 31.8 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature recorded in Santacruz on Sunday was 23.5 degrees Celsius, while in Colaba it was 24.8 degrees Celsius.
