Illegal dome lights, fancy number plates to invite action

The state transport department said on Thursday that they would be carrying out a drive, starting August 1, to check illegally installed dome lights and fancy number plates on vehicles.

According to transport officials, under the Motor Vehicle Act, installation of dome lights of red, blue and amber colours are permissible only on certain government vehicles.

“But we have noticed several violations of this rule on vehicles that do not have the required permission to install such lights,” said an official. Similarly, the department offcials added that they would also take action against those vehicles that have installed fancy number plates.
