A special senate meeting of the Indian Institute of Technology,Bombay,to discuss the compromise formula on the entrance test for admission to IITs,has been scheduled on July 25.

A special senate meeting of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT),Bombay,to discuss the compromise formula on the entrance test for admission to IITs,has been scheduled on July 25. The meeting, which was earlier scheduled on July 5,had to be postponed as the minutes of the June 27 IIT Council meeting were not available then. According to the compromise formula cleared by the IIT Council last month,Class XII marks will be used only as a cut-off for eligibility. Candidates will have to be in the top 20 percentile of their boards to be eligible for admission. Further, the IIT merit list will be decided by JEE Advanced,to be conducted and managed by the IITs on a separate date from JEE Main. The JEE Main will be used to screen 1.5 lakh candidates who will appear for JEE Advanced.
