History-sheeter posing as delivery agent held for harassing MBA student, female accomplice on the run
Although the complainant did not immediately file a complaint, she visited the police station on Monday, after which a case was registered. Sawant was arrested on Tuesday.

The Mumbai Police arrested a 21-year-old man and booked his female accomplice after he allegedly posed as a delivery agent and forced his way into the house of a 22-year-old woman in Malabar Hill to harass her.
According to police, the woman—a first-year MBA student—was at home on Saturday when the accused, identified as Nikesh Sawant, arrived at her doorstep.
“She had taken a break from her studies and was having evening snacks with her mother when the accused rang the doorbell and asked for her by name. When questioned further, he claimed to be an app-based delivery agent,” said the police officer. As the complainant had not ordered anything, she went to the door to speak to him.
According to police, the accused allegedly forced his way inside the house and claimed that a woman, identified as Sia, had sent him. To appear genuine, he called Sia through the Instagram app. Sia initially insisted that the complainant had ordered something online, then abruptly disconnected the call.
“Sawant later told the complainant that Sia had called him to have sex there,” said the officer adding, “The accused subsequently fled, claiming he would look for her in the neighboring building. The complainant and her mother then contacted their watchman and asked him to bring Sawant upstairs.”
Police said after the complainant and her mother checked Sawant’s chat history with Sia on Instagram, they discovered the two had been exchanging obscene messages. The complainant again attempted to call Sia via Instagram, but by then, Sia had deactivated her account. Their driver and house help were also informed having seen Sawant loitering around the building earlier.
Although the complainant did not immediately file a complaint, she visited the police station on Monday, after which a case was registered. Sawant
was arrested on Tuesday.
“The arrested accused is a history-sheeter, with previous cases of rape, narcotics, and theft registered against him. Sawant claimed that he committed the crime under Sia’s instructions. Based on what we know so far, their intent was to harass the complainant, but we are still trying to determine the exact motive,” said the police officer.
According to the police, the two accused have been booked for stalking, house trespass, and using words intended to insult the modesty of a woman.
While the police are still on the lookout for the woman identified as Sia, Sawant was produced in court. He was granted bail on Tuesday.
