In one of the tweets informing citizens about the snarls, Mumbai traffic police posted early in the day, “Bus breakdown at Paneri Junction (Dadar) southbound Traffic is slow moving.”
During the peak evening hours, heavy traffic was reported on the northbound direction of Western Express Highway from Vile Parle to Kandivali, on the P D’Mello road in CST and also on the Eastern Express Highway between Dadar and Ghatkopar.
Several citizens took to Twitter complaining about traffic, unmanned crossroads and violation of traffic rules.
A Twitter user posted, “So many vehicles moving from the wrong lane causing traffic woes, including bmc vans creating bottle neck jams at Ghatkopar West Sarvodaya signal below the metro bridge.”
“One truck broke down near northbound WEH Andheri Jog flyover, southbound Traffic Jam from Jogeshwari onwards, just bcoz curious people wish to see what’s happening there !!!,” said another Twitter user.
Authorities added that traffic snarls were reported near Lucky Junction in Bandra and on the Marine Drive stretch near Wilson College.
“This is an everyday situation opposite Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Girgaon, next to Wilson college. Cars and 2-wheelers illegally stop at the Pan store without any care towards the traffic,” read a tweet.
While another Twitter user posted, “The signal near Trade Centre BKC is an unmanned crossroad and an absolute chaos every morning with vehicles taking turns in all directions. @MumbaiPolice Traffic Police should look into this and have someone monitor this or it will continue to be a mess with illegal traffic!”
