Around 6,500 defence officers and civilians, slated to attend the National Defence Academy’s (NDA) passing out parade on November 29,will go through a heightened security cover this time because of rising threat perception.

This time,Army chief General Deepak Kapoor will review the passing out parade. The NDA is also in touch with the local police to coordinate the security around the institution, said NDA commandant,Vice Admiral R K Dhowan. “We are very sensitive to the nature of threat that exists. Every year around this time the academy steps up its security for passing out parade,” he said. However,Dhowan asked invites to brace themselves for a tighter ring of security this time, requesting them to come on time to undergo the screening process.

“We are expecting around 6,500 people to attend the parade. It is not our intention to cut down on the number of civilians attending the parade, but this time the security procedure will be more stringent,” he said.
