HC rejects Suresh Patil bail plea

Bombay High Court Wednesday refused to grant relief to Suresh Patil, convicted in the murder case of Shiv Sena corporator Kamlakar Jamsandekar.

Bombay High Court Wednesday refused to grant relief to Suresh Patil, convicted in the murder case of Shiv Sena corporator Kamlakar Jamsandekar. Patil had sought to be released on bail while his appeal challenging the conviction is pending.

On August 24 last year,a special MCOCA court held Patil guilty of the murder of Jamsandekar, along with gangster- turned-politician Arun Gawli. A total of twelve persons were convicted.

Jamsandekar was killed in 2007 at his residence in Saki Naka. As per the case chargesheet,Gawli took Rs 30 lakh for the murder.

Patil’s lawyer Adhik Shirodkar argued that the only evidence against Patil was his confession, which was later retracted. He claimed that the magistrate before whom Patil was produced had not directed that he should be examined by a medical officer,as per procedure. However, public prosecutor Revati Mohite-Dere said the confessional statements of two other accused corroborate with his statements.
