Shiv Sena UBT MLA and the former minister Aaditya Thackeray on Wednesday wrote to BMC commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal stating that he would move a “breach of privilege motion” against the civic official for not replying to the questions he raised and for not sharing the documents he sought in connection with the alleged BMC street furniture scam worth Rs 263 crore.

In a letter to Chahal, Aaditya said that the BMC failed to reply to pointed questions raised by him and that he hopes that the contract will be scrapped and a detailed reply be given to him, failing which he would have no option but to move a breach of privilege motion in the monsoon session of the state legislature that begins in July.

The MLA from the Worli constituency said that he had written to Chahal in April, bringing his attention to an alleged scam of Rs 263 crore in the tender for installation of street furniture in Mumbai by the BMC’s Central Purchase Department (CPD) in five zones of the city.

“I will take up this issue in the upcoming monsoon session of the state legislature and if no satisfactory reply is received from the BMC and necessary documents are not shared, I will be compelled to move a breach of privilege motion against the BMC official concerned…,” the letter stated.
