Fire at Nirlon House

A Fire broke out on the fifth floor of the five-storey Nirlon House building in suburban Worli on Monday morning. “A part of the fifth floor,which houses the office of a financial services firm,caught fire around 8:30 am. The fire was doused within an hour,” said A N Shinde,Chief Fire Officer.

Offices of many financial services firms,banks and chemical companies are housed in Nirlon House,which is situated at Anni Beasant Marg. “Not many people were there in the building as the offices usually start after 9 am. Due to that many lives were saved,” said a fire officer.

“The fire seems to have occurred due to a short circuit. Some electric equipment,installations and wires were found burnt on the office premise,” added the officer.

A fireman and a fire officer suffered minor injuries while dousing the fire and were admitted in civic-run KEM hospital. Five fire engines,four water tankers were used in the operations.
